James-Alan Parocha Nguyen is my name. Let's see, where to begin...
Born in August 3rd 1990. Lived near the city that time; it was a nice place to say for the least. Been resident in Australia since my birth, and still living in the good ole' Garden State of Victoria. I was told that I never played with toys in my younger years, and either played video games or read books, practised talking or just simply watch TV. (Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Lazy-ass fatso.) It didn't matter, 'least I grew to liking entertainment on a television screen. :) I never got the hang of talking in my parents' language (Filipino or Vietnamese) but at least learnt how to speak English. I was told I could speak it when I was two. Read/Write as well. Anyway, enough of THAT business. Hopping onto the timescale a few years ahead...
1995, still living in the same place as of today. Moved from the city to the suburbs. Red brick house, fairly old but somewhat cozy. In October 1996, I was given my first Personal Computer (PC) with Microsoft(R) Windows 95 (tm) installed. I still have it, probably for nostalgic reasons. Used to be a Pentium 133Mhz, but was upgraded to peak at 200Mhz. Still running smoothly, although it's somewhat...outdated. For about 5 years I had to put up with it, though the experience with using a computer such as that, taught me these things:
Understand DOS commands and partial batch language
Understand most of the Windows(tm) GUI and it's way of processes and drivers
Install software of any kind (except Database Modules such as MySQL, PHP..)
Touchtyping
Understand the use of MIDI, Soundfonts, Graphics, Text and Safe Mode
Understand how The Internet works
Shortcut keys on a keyboard
Connecting the computer by myself
ANYWAY, that's around the time where I surpassed most of my peers my age, on the subject of computers. (Better abbreviated, InfoTech.) 2001, I got a newer computer--this time custom-built. WAS an AMD Duron 650Mhz, but was later upgraded to 950Mhz (almost at its peak) due to many inconsistencies with performance on many applications I use on it. Other than that, this is when I discovered Winjammer Shareware v3.0, a versatile MIDI sequencer. Begun playing with it, and easily adapted to it since I've already had pre-understanding of the General MIDI schematics. Around this time, my obsession of collecting Video Game MIDI's grew from here. (Alternatively, the thing about playing games on computer when it's not intentionally for it, came around to me, called Emulation. Bought a CD from a Swap Meet Computer Market, and also learnt about it from there.) About a few years later, a very good friend of mine sent me a copy of Winjammer Professional v5.03 (Got v5.06 patch from someone) which, ultimately, isn't being commercially sold anymore; Reasons unknown...besides that the author's website disappeared after the farewell message, and that sites holding the shareware/pro demo copy have yet to update their information.
During this period, I created my first (strange) websites on Yahoo!(R) Geocities(tm) and had little luck with it. Then I tried on a temporary website which was to provide download to my short-lived Soundfont Projects I created in my free time. But then that site went down because the host's connection got revoked. Oh well... Now it's 2005, and am standing strong in terms of High School (or SECONDARY COLLEGE, what we call here,) keeping my grades up regardless of anything interfering with my education. It's always nice to talk to teachers when you're one of the only people who do. :)
In a nutshell, video games have been there in my younger years, as well as technology, friendship and other things. Boring life, you might say, but it's actually quite fun if you have the patience. MIDI sequencer for 4 years, (Digital) Musician for about a year, Computer Nerd for 10 years, a straight for 8 years, and a citizen for about 14 years. If you want to know, Christianity ROCKS!!
